Kriston Banfield is a Trinbagonian visual artist, living and working on the twin island. His work investigates ideas of community and belonging often referencing the antagonistic relationship between the concept of self and established societal norms (namely those of the Caribbean).
By drawing on elements of myth, spirituality and occurrences within the natural world he seeks to question how social and economic disparities directly police the human experience, more so one’s availability to opportunity, power and stratification.
His work takes the form of painting, drawing, sculpture and installation.
